I imported a sheetmetal part from IGES into SW2007 SP3.1.
After making a fully dimension drawing based on this model, I realized that my flat blank size is wrong. I tried to adjust the k factor in the sheet metal feature in the tree, but to no avail. I then realized that SW made each of the...
One thing I've noticed through the years is that when I find myself in an emotional argument at work, it's because I am arguing with someone who, like me, cares about the work they do. Yes, it's the ol' touchy-feely, I'm okay-you're okay, "we're both playing for the same team" point.
By keeping...
One suggestion that I didn't see (or missed) here is that of outsourcing the CAD work. I'm sure there are others here who, like me, create drawings on the side for local, small businesses. An ad in your local newspaper should yield plenty of results.
Herb,
I am not familiar with the LC10 laser, but I do recall that we had a problem with our laser beam on a 3020 LXP clipping the inside of the beam path bellows, which resulted in an odd colored film on the bend mirrors and mirror housings.
I've run into the same problem, and came up with the following solution:
1) create a plane at opposite angle from chamfer angle along the edge to be chamfered and from adjacent plane (in the case of the example I used the front plane and created a 135-deg plane for a 45-degree chamfer)

He refuses to do his job correctly, the company refuses to do anything about him not doing his job correctly, and you are on your way out anyway? I don't see this as such a difficult situation.
Here's an appropriate prayer for you:
Lord, grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot...
The masking you are asking about is called either laser-tack or high-tack. Any supplier of vinyl-covered stainless sheet should know the difference between that and low-tack masking.
The best method I've found for cutting thru is to pre-pierce thru the vinyl first by keeping the head up...

One of the best freeware programs I've ever used, and take everywhere I go, is one called Convert by Joshua Madison.
http://www.joshmadison.com/software/convert/
This is an incredibly simple, tiny and useful program....everytime I use it, I can hardly believe it was free.
This is system I've used in the past:

I used it for removing weld heat stains on stainless steel for cosmetic reasons, but it works quite well for it's original purpose of marking as well.
One great, "free" resource is your tooling salesperson. These people usually have a good deal of application knowledge and, being in a highly competitive market, tend to work hard to help their customers with setup issues with their tools.
