    Construction Contractors License

The LA board gave me a list of 20 books as reference to buy. Is there any study guide for something to focus on? I don’t understand what I need to know for the test. Thank you.

    Construction Contractors License

Has anyone ever taken a heavy equipment contractor's license exam(state of LA). As a mechanical engineer, is this something i need to study for? Is it law references or common since math that an engineer could figure out? Sorry but there is limited information. Thank you.

    A 572 Gr 50

What are A572 Gr 50 typical charpy impact test values are -20C? I know this varies quite a bit, but am curious if anyone has a typical range. The typical requirement is 20 ft-lbs at this temp,i believe. What are the odds / % that a typical US steel mill without any specific post processing...

    FRP Gasket Material

I have an FRP piping application operating at 150 psi and 275 F. I am trying to determine the best gasket material to use. The medium is salt water. What is the best gasket that will seal and not overstress the flange from over torquing? Thank you in advance.

    Sulfatreat Bed Design

What is the typical differential pressure to use in the design of a sulfatreat bed? Standard operating pressure is at 50 psi, and we have always used 5 psid as the differential through the medium. Is there any published value to use as a standard? Thank you.

    Normalizing SA105 Material for Nace

Would PWHT of the entire vessel eliminate this issue? I am aware PWHT is not the same as normalizing. Thanks in advance.

    Normalizing SA105 Material for Nace

If they turn out to not be normalized, but do meet the hardness requirements, would this be a violation of A.2 for Nace MR0175?

    Normalizing SA105 Material for Nace

I have an existing ASME VIII, Div 1 pressure vessel that I am not 100% sure the SA105 flanges have been normalized. The H2S partial pressure is not super high, only 1.25 psi. Is normalizing of SA105 required per section A.2 of NACE MR0175 if the hardness requirements are met (187 HBW)? My...

ASME VIII, Div 2 Conical Transition with Flare & Knuckle

Hi, I am trying to determine the hoop and membrane stresses in a conical transition per ASME VIII, Div 2 section 4.3.12 and table 4.3.7. I am having trouble specifying the variable Rf and Rk which are the radius to center of curvature for the flare and knuckle respectively. I have my rk and rk...

AWWA Flange for ASME VIII, Div 1 Service

TGS$ & PDICULOUS963 - Thank you. I agree. So just to confirm, I would have to increase the flange thickness of the 42" 150# RF SO flange to meet the appendix to requirements. Out of curiosity, why is there a size 42" 150# RF SO size if not good for ASME VIII? Is this only good for B31.3?

AWWA Flange for ASME VIII, Div 1 Service

Ok I agree with BJI. We are going to go with a 42" 150# RF SO, but this large size is not covered in ASME B16.47. However, a 42" 150# RF SO flange does not meet the Appendix 2 requirements due to flange thickness (viii bolting requirements for 1.5" stud). Is my only option to increase the SO...
