    Autocad 3D

I use the 3D 'Modelling' function in AutoCAD for mechanical plant, which include structural steelwork. the last 2 or so releases of ACAD have really improved the viewing ability and it makes it really easy to use. Until you have established a block database (accessed most quickly using design...

    AutoCAD Zooming issue.

Thanks for the replies, but unfortunately still no success. I set viewres res to 10000 and then 20000 but no change. The views in model space are created by the _solview and _ soldraw commands (so they originate from a 3D model) I have attached two views to show the problem. Interestingly, if...

Layer Properties Manager - unable to change colour

Thanks for the replies people; I tried all your suggestions, unfortunately to no avail. I ended up having to uninstall AutoCAD completely and then install it from a fresh. For some unknown reason that did the trick, whereas 'reinstalling' it didn't.

    AutoCAD Zooming issue.

I have the same issues as in thread555-182412 (now closed with no solution). The drawing is in model space in several view ports (different views) and the dimensions and labelling is done in Paperspace. When Zoooming in to be able to dimension from a line, the model appears to zoom in further...

Layer Properties Manager - unable to change colour

I am using AutoCAD 2008 and I have a problem which fairly major and seemingly unsolvable After opening the layer properties manager, I highlight a specific layer and then click on the colour, in order to change it to a different colour. Unfortunately, nothing visible happens - usually another...

Loctite or Anti-seize on MTB fasteners

This is a question relating to the assembly of my personal mountain bike, and I thought that I'd try for some educated answers in this forum rather than from teenagers who don't really know what they are on about on an MTB forum. I am in two minds whether to apply loctite or anti-seize compound...

XREF Problem II - Changing paths

Thanks for the replies. There's some good ideas, but I just remembered that sometimes I do drawings on the laptop out of the office, in which cas I would copy the project drawing directory. I think that the only surefire way is to leave the Rev No off the drawing - which can be a bit...

XREF Problem II - Changing paths

In our company, the files names are drawing number - Revision Letter (ie 34562-Rev B). This system has been used historically, and cannot be changed. All the drawings are stored on a server, and the CAD people create drg on their terminals. The 'parent drawing' containing x-ref's may be...

    AutoCAD 2006 & Dual Monitors

The strange thing is my notebook monitor is 1280x800 (ie 1.6) and the circles look round on that.

    AutoCAD 2006 & Dual Monitors

THanks for the reply, you're quite right. The aspect ratio is 1680x1050 which is 1.6, but the regular ones are 1.33. Time to try to convince the boss to by another monitor !

    AutoCAD 2006 & Dual Monitors

I work out of a laptop (Sony PCG-K315B) and I run AutoCAD 2006. Recently I have had access to a BENQ wide/flat screen monitor (which is considerably larger than the notebook screen). I have set it up so that I have AutoCAD drawing screen on the big screen, and the properties, toolbars and text...

    Ungrateful Clients

Well said ashereng. [In my field of engineering/company] The sales guys have a difficult job, by not having all the info from the client (who doesn't know) at the sales stage and have to make guestimates based upon experience. The engineers have a difficult job interpreting what the sales...

Extending & Trimming lines to apparent points.

Thanks for the replies. Seant took home the gold through, it was the edgemode that was set to 0, and now it's changed to 1 it behaving how I'm used to it behaving. Conversley, I mentioned this to a colleague, and he too had the same problem albeit the other way around. Thanks again.

Extending & Trimming lines to apparent points.

I use AutoCAD on different stations that run different versions of AutoCAD. On the 2005 LT, I can extend or trim lines that do not cross - eg below. _______ ! ! ! Imagine the exclamation marks are a straght line, I would be able to click extend, select...

    Background Mask on Text

I use a couple of different versions (2005 LT, 2006 full etc) and I cannot find a way to default the Text background mask to be on automatically. It seems that I have to select the text that I want to have the backgound mask on and right click> background etc. If there are more required then I...
