Securing 4160 cables inside of MCC.

I thought so, thanx. I never was a fan of this!

Securing 4160 cables inside of MCC.

Hey Experts, I have been asked by a customer if this is kosher? Where one may usually find more elaborate clamping and bracing of 4160v cable terminations, just past this a "METAL HOSE CLAMP" is used to group the cables on the internal routing to lugs. I see no obvious problem, everything is...

Identifying Winding (leads) on 12 lead Generator.

I've used Skogsgurra's method in the past and it was simple and obvious once you see the scope waveforms. I am no engineer, just a power systems technician.

What do you think of these phase angle readings?

I fully understand VT's being wye or delta. Can CT's also be wye or delta. A wire is a wire, how is a CT a wye or delta?

    UPS Bypass Synchronising

In my experience, if the breaker handle is removed it may indicate that the CB is controlled by a control switch with has various electrical interlocks. Are you sure the CB does not have an electrical close spring release?

GE Fanuc PLC guy applying for a fancy packaging machine PLC job

I have long experience using PLCs for controlling power systems and building automation. Virtually no "MOTION" or CNC stuff. How complex is a conveyor/packacing extruder program. I understand axis and rpm and offset and the basics. Will a conveyor be reasonably easy to understand? I have seen...

    Pringle Switches

Throw it hard and mean. Do not be timid. If is a handle operated opening throw it stiff and clean. If is "spring opened" or "shunt trip" style, push the trip button solidly and all the way. It may be hard to push. If electrical shunt trip....expect a coil failure and manually trip if possible...

Differential Trip (Device 87) 4160vac 6 Gen Parallel System

Thank you all. I learned more from your help here than I lesrned from the "Paid Consultants". Almost ashamed to admit that it was simply a poorly crimped 2 cent ring terminal done twenty years ago. Hot weather, generator room around 120 degrees and large load step caused a intermittant lug to...

Differential Trip (Device 87) 4160vac 6 Gen Parallel System

Oh yeah, I have set the pickup to MAX but it still occurs. I can not control the testing loads as it is real building load whichs fluctuates around 6000Kva. Customer is curtailing load for CON ED on very hot days. I have no load banks on site and wish to avoid the high expense of load banks and...

Differential Trip (Device 87) 4160vac 6 Gen Parallel System

System is unchanged for twenty years with no similiar problems, but customer believes he may have more load than he has ever had in the past. HIOKI will be used to prove CT connections by viewing current waveforms this week. I have always had problems at much lower loads when CT's were wrong...

Differential Trip (Device 87) 4160vac 6 Gen Parallel System

Six Generator Detroit Diesel(1750Kva units) 4160vac ASCO system carrying building load varying around 6000Kva. One unit trips 86 lockout from 87 device. Flag on 87 fires so it is not control circuit issue. Will stay on bus at lighter loads but right around this level it trips. Swapped Relay...

    PLC HALTED

Almost all major PLC brands have a fault table. Is there anything there?

    3? power meter with ethernet

Looked at many options and went with the very reasonable HIOKI unit. It has done everything I needed it to do so far!

Determining if motor is turning or locked in sealed unit

Thank you gentleman. The circulator is running at .8amps (.72a rating) and is running, but it is one silent little TACO!
