Thanks for the reply!
I guess I should have been clearer. I'm looking to get another job as a drafter/designer for the time-being while I consider my options. My employer has decided that I have been disloyal by wanting to pursue (long term) another career path and has sentenced me to...
I took a job working in production right out of high school for a small mfg. company where I was transitioned into their Drafter position due to my computer skills (at the time). Since then I have standardized their mechanical and electrical documentation, converted 99% of their...
I think he's referring to the Mobile Pentium chip used in low-power-consumption laptops. I doubt that they have the computing power to match that of a full-on desktop processor, much less a workstation-class machine. I'm running AutoCad on a 1.5ghz Pentium M laptop and it slows to a crawl...
There's way too much to the software to be covered in just a week of training. I've been through the basics, sheet metal, adv. assy modeleing and now routing and found the training materials to be just a *basic* introduction into the software. The only way to learn how to use it is to just use...
I've ran into the same problem, but never found a solution. I think that what dmeyers is trying to do is make sure the bottom-most and left-most edges are coincident with the 0,0 of the drawing for export to .dxf so that CNC software has no offset when nesting. I have an a-sized sheet where I...
I got my CDs yesterday, but I'm with smcadman. Waiting until SP1 to install it. I've gotten burned with 2003, 2004 and 2005 SP0.
There looks to be some new functionality in sheet metal, I'm excited to use it!
I'm the sole drafter/designer at my company. I used to have the same problems with files being locked even after Solidworks was closed, amongst other problems.
I finally convinced my IT guy to let me move all my solidworks files back to my local drive and back up from there. Presto, no more...
Sorry to offend you, but I've been down the tech support roads already. I was looking for someone who may have had a similar problem and solved it. You apparently have not. I usually exhaust all options including FAQ's and calls to the VAR before I post here, so thanks for the SOL, you have been...
You could try finding the view in the tree, right click on it, selecting 'lock view focus' and adding the notes afterward. That's what I do.
Also, if you name your views (in the tree), you will have a much easier time selecting them.
Hope that helps
I'm becoming annoyed with my Cadman motion controller when I'm working with design tables in Solidworks.
I always 'edit table in new window' which loads excel and my design tables in, you guessed it, a new window. When I close that app and it starts to apply the changes, the mapping window for...
Hopefully?
Every new release of Solidworks I have ever installed since 2001+ has been rushed to market without being thoroughly tested.
I don't want to see Solidworks 2006... until TWO THOUSAND AND SIX, if it comes out this year, it should be called TWO THOUSAND AND FIVE PART 2: We fixed some...
For me, Solidworks 2005 0.1 crashes minimum 2-3 times per day regardless of:
a. How fast I'm working.
b. How big/complex the part/assembly is I'm working on.
c. How many other apps are open at the same time.
I've tried several video cards and drivers, done clean installs, keep my temp clean...
Anyone else having problem with BASIC in-context relations?
This is ridiculous.
It seems like it just keeps getting worse, the basic functionality degrades to the same degree that all you add-on people get your new toys.
For the record in this forum, Solidworks has NEVER fixed ANYTHING I have...
I have this happen pretty frequently as I do a lot of cylindrical mates. Most times all it will require is a forced rebuild with CTRL+Q. Other times I have to open up the individual components and make forced rebuilds in them first. Solidworks can be very frustrating. Sketching in 2005 is a...
