Does anyone have experience with smaller PC builders like Xi computer out of california or Velocity Micro out of Virginia? Is the domestic tech support package and QC protocols advertised real benefits or just marketing? Need to purchase a mobile workstation and there is a...
The load is specifically NOT perpendicular to the plate. I applied a large enough normal load to the plates that the bolt preload "should not" be required to prevent translation. Even still this small displacement implies relative motion between the plates. In my mind two plates which are...
Well, the nodes I looked at are coincident but on two separate bodies. That seems to me like a discontinuity that implies relative motion of the adjacent surfaces rather than a strain gradient. That's my thought anyway.
Hi Blas!
Thank you for your response. That was my initial thought so I checked the nodal displacements of two conicident nodes on each of the top and bottom plates (see attached). While not large there does exist a relative displacement ~.0004in. A similar translation occurs at the edge of the...
I have two base plates bolted together with preload and friction (see attached) set up with linear contact. When a shear load is applied to the joint there is a discontinuity in the T2 translation between the plates even though the joint should be sufficiently clamped to prevent any relative...
I have a plate element model that uses CGAP elements to model contact in a joint and CBUSH elements to represent the fasteners. There are (5) load cases and (5) constraint sets with act in different directions. Using SOL 101 the model solves and behaves as expected for all (5) directions. For...
Thank you Blas. That will do the trick.
rb1957: I have subcases with multiple loads that I would like to uniformly scale without individually recalculating each vector component.
The NASTRAN Force card has a scale factor which applies to the whole force vector. How do I change this parameter in FEMAP without individually recalculating the force components?
Thanks!
