Apparently abrasive products don't need any official governing body approval as the companies themselves do their own approvals of consumables.

Not sure about the schematics, but we have a Mitutoyo surftest where the stylus died and the only place to get a replacement was Mitutoyo. Bloody expensive though...in the end we actually bought a new machine because it was cheaper!

Working for a nonwoven abrasive company we occasionally come up against our products causing orange peel effects on metal surfaces.
This happens mostly on Aluminium, Titanium & Brass which we rarely know the composition of.
We know it has to do with the grain size on the metal's surface...
