    (911) Power Plant HVAC Failure (911)

Hey Guys, I am trying to verify some results from a CFD program and the last thing I have is time because it is the end of the fiscal year. I need to be reminded of the formula for temperature rise in a room. I have a 819CuFt room at 85F. When the power fails, only the secondary HVAC runs...

Watts required to raise air temp

Guys, Thank you so much for all your help. I revising the design to have 4 100W heaters. Once complete, I am going to send it off to Baltimore for a cold room test. Though this looks like a simple problem to management, I know enough to know it is not simple. Good suggestions and thank you...

Watts required to raise air temp

Guys, I really wish I had all the information to solve the problem, but as is often the case we are being forced to guess and fast. The system is designed to turn on the 200W worth of heaters at 0C (Ohmite series 270 100W at 10 Ohm). As for how much heat the box will dissipate, you got me...

Watts required to raise air temp

The resistors kick on at 0 C. So from the above calculations at -50C, p of air =1.534, C=1.005. With a volume of .0052M^3, my air mass is then .0079Kg. Which gives a Q of .0039. If I have 200W of heating, that means I should be able to change from -45 to 40 in .0017 hours...

Watts required to raise air temp

First, thank God for you guys and the fast response. Next, you are correct MJ. I need to maintain -40C. How does that change things?

Watts required to raise air temp

Help! I am in a huge pinch for time and thus throw myself on the mercy of the group. I have a box that I am shipping off to a -45C environment. It houses to small PC Boards and is enclosed in another larger equipment box. The larger box is not sealed from the environment yet there will be no...

    Under Body and Fuel Eco

I had a friend send this to me today and I thought it an interesting topic. Any of you guys have thoughts on this? Admittedly the 33% number sounds high and at the very least opens the door for any self respecting engineer to say….”ok so how did they arrive at that number”, but that aside; here...

Spring rates for asymmetric weight distribution

I am with Rod on this. Though I am primarily a lurker here, I have worked as an engineer in North Americas predominate sports car racing series and in production vehicle dynamics for over 15 years. With this, I can say that if I had $10 for every time I put a setup on the car that fit the...

Weight transfer and the effect of shocks

Thank you. I thought I did too. But have you ever had one of those day's where the data you were seeing was making you doubt everything you thought you knew? That was my yesterday. M

Weight transfer and the effect of shocks

I wanted to throw a topic out her for conversation, hope that is alright, regarding the effect of shock absorbers on weight transfer. I will share first my school of thought which will hopefully result in affirmation and/or gentile correction. Understanding that shocks do not control the amount...

Resizing a Design Table Inserted in a Drawing

OK, I think I may have found a work around. 1) Save the Design Table off. 2) Import the table as an object in a drawing 3) Then, it appears if you DBL RMC on the edge of the table, it launches in the drawing and it allows you to resize. 4) If you do not do it this way, and simply try to DBL...

Resizing a Design Table Inserted in a Drawing

If you DBL click inside, it opens the part and subsequently the design table for editing. And just to be clear, the corner handles work. It is the vertical and horizontal handles that do not. They simpy move the table.

Resizing a Design Table Inserted in a Drawing

SW2007SP5 Does anyone have a fix or work around for the following. When inserting a design table in to a drawing, I can not find a way to resize the table with the window handles (LMC and drag). By resizing I mean to show more and less rows and/or columns NOT to make what is already visible...
