It seems to me that you are worrying too much. Two years is not very long, if you were sidelined ten then maybe...but, in my opinion, if you have what it takes Bechtel, Fluor and others will be only too happy to hire you and send you to the mideast.
It is always interesting to see someone try out a new idea but I have serious doubts about this one. A properly buried pipe almost never freezes and one with other "stuff" on the top almost always does.

In my experience gaseous oxygen is a material to be handled with care. I rather suspect that JLSeagull is right, that the problem is one of velocity and impingement. Usually monel or inconel are appropriate materials for oxygen impingement areas. I think it would be worth your while...
