Dear Gents, may I receive your comments
about reason to select V-Notch ball valve for an on-off
application instead of a regular one?
V-notch would have longer lead time and cost.
However maybe operation of it can be easier, less-torque etc.
Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering about lining procedure of different valves.
Is there a norm or guide that you can share? I could never find one.
Beside Class 300 pfa lined valves are not common or limited to 6".
Anyone could advice why there is a size limit?
Thanks Danlap and Gerhardl for input.
So acc. to your experiences, you verify that ball valves are better than plug valves
for such dirty, high temp and high cycle operation like coker?
As I investigated , earlier plug valve were used in coker plants. Then ball valves became more common.(why?)
Beside complex operation function of plug valve looks like weak point and 2 actuator requirement. (for turn and lifting)
So I try to understand why users began to prefer ball after a...
I am trying to understand the major 2 solutions for coker line : ball and plug valves.
Beside licensor specs, does plant switch from ball to plug? Or they follow initial specs
which were prepared by the licensors?
It looks like biggest advantage of plug valve is inline maintenance capability...
If you define corrosive environment they can apply necessary coating. SS Body can also be provided but with high prices and long lead times.
Dirty service ia wide scope. Better to be specific. Like RVAmeche mentioned mostly used in Oil&Gas. Storage, crude oil, refinery, terminals etc.
SEaling...
LittleInch & RVAmeche thanks for time and caring.
We can consider like starting from zero and reaching to 30-35 meters depth at the end of the pipeline.
It will be sea outfall for cooling water discharge. Purpose is similar to a land pipeline, to protect the pipeline.
Beyond supplying it, I...
Dear Experienced ones,
I was asked to supply an air valve to be used an deep sea water discharge pipeline.
Valves to be used along the pipeline thus air valve to operate undersea.
Acc. to me, I never saw such application and can not imagine that there is a design
like this.
Did you ever see...
Moltenmetal, thanks again for your valuable time and words.
You are right however this is not for an application in my country and I am afraid no pro-metallurgist in my country can comment even close to what you write. Appreciate your input and experience !
thanks molenmetal, however I could not still reach to a point that I am sure C276 or 625 is better for the application.
Acc. to Haynes website, as concentration of HCL increases, c276 has better corrosion rate than 625.
Any final comments?
