    Changing "handle" name

    1. What does this sentence mean? "I am adjusting a cad drawing to preparation for GIS translation, but i have yet been able to identify the polygon in cad for gis with an attribute table." It seems like there are several words missing. 2. The handle of an object does not change from one...

    IFI 513 METRIC SCREW STANDARD

In thread1103-127100 someone asked about the IFI-513 standard. A response asserted that it does not exist, however that is only partially true. It used to exist, but was replaced by ASME B18.6.7M.

    Drawing formats and layout tabs

As borgunit implies, this project will either be done in lisp or vba/vb. I've done it in lisp (vlisp) and had fantastic success with it, but because it was such a time consuming process I would not give it away. My program inserts formats, gathers the appropriate data from existing drawing...

Telecomguy; That is an awesomely awesome link you shared! I have to agree with you, that is pretty much the little blue book... Dave

Looking for an old E/M packaging handbook

About 20 years ago I purchased a little handbook about Electro-mechanical eng. called "H.O.T. Book" (HOT stood for "hands off this"). Does anyone know if this is still available for purchase? Thanks, Dave

    Space Pilot with Autocad 2007

You don't say which version of ACAD. Assuming that you have a version of ACAD that works with SPACE PILOT, make sure you have the latest driver (which can be downloaded at the spacepilot website).

Saving an Autocad file which is 'Write Protected'

Instead of "save" use "saveas" and give it a different name.

    Plotting Multiple Named Views

From what you describe, you (your company, the CAD management team, whoever) have painted yourselves into a corner: 1. absolutely will not use paperspace layouts (Why would management make a decision like that? That's like a boss telling a driver he cannot ever make a u-turn. Why would the...

Soft Damping Foam between Elec. boards

Rorschach, Do you know about the pricing of Isodamp? Someone in my office said it was very expensive (cost prohibitive), but that was from at least a couple of years ago. Have things changed maybe?

    Error in Y14.1?

Zissou, I agree that the standard is not making sense. "4.2.2 G-Size Format. Segments of lengths are based on multiples of 8.5 in. for G-size format. The G-size format permits full size copies to be bound in 8.5 X 11 in. books or filed in looseleaf notebooks. See Table 2 and Fig. 2." But if...

    Question about drawing views

It almost sounds like you have a drawing with "first angle projection." Europeans use this method, whereas Americans use "third angle projection." http://www.technologystudent.com/designpro/ortho1.htm http://www.technologystudent.com/designpro/ortho2.htm...

Successfully ^C & ^V of details from one drawing to another

It makes sense that CopyClip, etc should be used for transfers from ACAD to another application, but how would I copy format blocks, dimensions, etc. between two different layouts?

    Problems with Mechanical desktop

The trick is to find the system variable that sets this behavior. At the command line type: SETVAR[return] ?[return] *dia[return] Rationale: "dia" stands for "dialog." I want to find the sysvars that deal with dialog. 3 items are returned: ATTDIA CMDDIA FILEDIA If all of these are set to...
