I have liquid propane at -50C and need to know the density, I found two sources which state density of Propane at -50C as 588 and 301 Kg/m3 which is correct?
Also need density of Liquid Butane at -5C. Both stored in atmospheric storage tanks.
I am designing Refrig Plant for Propane cooling (-50C) using R410a. The compressors are oil injected screw and there is oil recovery, however there is oil carry over into the Heat Exchangers.
Is there any papers/ software available to calculate the performance degredation due to the oil film on...
Thanks for the reply, the launcher is only filled with gas for twenty minutes and then the pig is released and the depressurisation takes twenty minutes.
If you have a jet fire when there are ten guys launching the pig the PSV is the last of your problems.
Hi
I have been looking into the sizing of an Offshore Pig Launcher PSV. API 521 indicates that I should size using 100% liquid inventory as if the vessel contains gas the metal temperature will exceed strength of the vessel and cause and explosion.
The Client wants the PSV sized for gas is...
Hi
Hope this is the right place for my question.
We are replacing a diesel oil tank on an oil platform in the Caribbean. The Client has asked for the Standard for painting the interior of the tank.
Does anyone know of any Standard regarding tank interior treatments?
Can anyone let me know where I am going wrong. I am doing a calc to find how much power my refinery syngas will produce and I get some astronomical numbers.
Syngas
LHV 41.5 MJ/nM3 or 43.5 MJ/kg
Density 0.95 kg/nM3
Quantity 11,200 tonne/day
Any help appreciated

Hi
I have a quantity of Methane Hydrate at 200 barg at 10 degC what is the expansion coefficient if I decrease the pressure to 1 barg and 15 degC?
Any help appreciated
I am trying to calculate the density of slightly evaporated seawater.
Normal seawater at 17% salinity, the density is 1025
What is the density if the seawater has been evaporated to 22%
Thanks in advance
Hi everybody, need some help.
Trying to find how much CO2 will be absorbed by crude oil at 5 barg and ambient temperature.
I have a tank with a CO2 blanket above the crude, when we pump out the crude the CO2 is gassing up the pumps.
I am working on a project which is down a concrete oil platform leg.
I want to vent off CO2 through a needle valve. The gas pressure is 8 bar and the valve is 9mm needle valve discharging to a 1 inch vent tube.
How much noise will be created?
Any help appreciated
I am trying to find the temperature of the reaction if I mix 100 tonnes of 36%HCl with Bicarb. I have assumed 80.9 tonnes of pure powder. However I need to pump the bicarb so will probably go for a solution at a lower purity.
Can anyone help in trying to find the heat of the reaction. HCl and...
Hi
I need to install a replacement 85m 4" riser to handle a mixture of sea water, hydrocarbons and sand. The choice is between 6Mo and Monel 400. The pump discharge spool is 6Mo and the piping it eventually connect to is Monel 400.
I know 6Mo has better corrosion resistance to salt water but...
I need to calculate the temperature loss when I remove the insulation from various pipework systems. I have a calculator from 3E Plus which gives an output in 610 Btu/hr/ft and I want to convert that back to a temperature loss.
I have
Specific Heat Capacities of the various fluids in the...
I am wanting to use an ion exchange unit to

polish 3200 tonnes/ hour condensate return.
How many trains am I going to require and who makes this for the Middle East.
