    mass flow rate

zdas04 I have tried to use this site for about the last 3 years (machine design, cosmos forums, algor forums, FEA forums, Seal Forums, and now this heat and mass Forum) each group has their own regulars. I have had great success and gotten very valuable help and information but have also...

    mass flow rate

My problem can get very complicated very fast and I did not want to get marred down with assumptions and approximations. I was looking for a general way to solve this type of situation. I really do not know why people must be rude on this site but oh well. Also due to security clearance stuff...

    mass flow rate

My apologies if this is a dumb question but I can’t seem to see the answer. If I have a pipe with known length and cross section that is empty on one side of a valve and full of a known substance (Liquid nitrogen in this case) at a known PSI what is my flow rate as I open the valve up at the...

Getting forrtl: severe (24): end-of-file during read, unit 8

I have had similar (very bad) experiences with algor support. We just had them in for training and it was a complete disaster. Anyway I know this does not help you solve your problem LongLe. You might want to see if there is a description of this error message in you help menu. Algor does...

Getting forrtl: severe (24): end-of-file during read, unit 8

Maybe I am missing something but I am not seeing the attatched file

Should Heat Transfer really depend on mesh elements?

Try comparing the aspect ratio of all three cases. There is a results option that will show you this also your mesh summary will also give you this data. The higher the aspect ratio the worse the results will be (generally). In the cases with single types of elements you may have some...

    Error allocating requested memory

Hello, I just recently went through a problem with algor about memory. During analysis right after the sparse solver was activated I would get an error (see attached file) saying it was out of memory. I must digress and say that originally I had 4GB of ram then we added 16GB more. When I had...

    Shell elements

I will try the 2-d approach but I do need the 3D model to run because I need to have it in my total assembly which includes the internal components generating the heat and the external heat sinks. Thanks GBor and rybose for your time and comments. I have found that there are not too many...

    Shell elements

rybose I turned off the surfaces for my thin part but I am not doing something correct because the mesher would just crash when. Are you using plate or brick elements? Are you turning off all surfaces or just the ends of the thin part? Thanks

    Shell elements

Hmm, I guess that makes sense since the mesh is midplane, but I thought by making my element the size of the cad model (part .002) would make the surfaces touch. I meshed using the plate and shell mesher option and the heat would not transfer through either. I guess the ultimate question is...

    Shell elements

Hello, I have a problem were a stainless tube (.011 thick) is plated on the inside with copper (.002). I have a heat source generated inside the plated tube and I am trying to see how hot the internal parts are getting? Just a note the stainless pipe has heat sink disks brazed to the outside...
