LitteInch,
Thank you for your responses. When we have back-pressure regulator installed at rotary pump discharge, can there be isolation valve or check valve between pump discharge and back-pressure regulator?
Thanks,
Hi there,
I have attached Kunkle datasheet.
We have four identical systems. Why three of them have 50 psig pump pressure and only one has 60 psig? Relief valve is by-passing in that case, I guess?
Thanks...
Gentlemen,
I have the following concerns. There are four units in the plant. All units have a pair of the same rotary pumps. I have checked pump motor and based on pump datasheets we should have 19 USGPM @ 50 psig flow.
One unit have 1/2" Crane RVs. Three other units have 1" Kunkle...
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for all of your inputs. I agree, it belongs to a museum! It looks so beautiful and rear and it doesn't even have a nameplate.
This valve is installed in discharge side of rotary pump with 10 usgpm capacity in lube oil system. There is an isolation valve between the pump...
Hello Everyone,
I am writing this post to find out product data sheet for 1/2" Crane 2604 relief valve. I came across this valve installed in low pressure lube oil system and would like to know its relieving capacity. Based on drawing, it was installed in 1953. Couldn't find anything on the...
Hi Everyone,
I have glanced to ASME B16.5-2013 (I don't have a copy of latest editions) pressure-temperature tables and found out the following:
1. Group 1.1 materials table ends at 1,000 F and recommended not to be used above 800F almost for all materials. Only Class 1500 @ 1,000F rating (430...
Hi BCD,
Thanks for your answer and correction. Yes, I had older version (2004) of B16.34. I found newer version (2017) which is a bit different. I understand and appreciate that with gate valve open, piping system can be tested to 1.5 x the class rating.
It sounds like ASME B31.1 para 102.2.4...
Hello Everyone,
I am trying to determine design pressure of penstock in hydro power plant. Currently there are mix of Class 300, 400, and 600 valves are used as drain valve for different equipment close to the bottom of the penstock. The elevation change from maximum elevation of reservoir...
Obzekator,
BEP is considered as a part of Boiler and shall be hydrotested together with a boiler, up to the second isolation valve per BPVC Section I and B31.1 provisions.
Thanks,
Curtis
Hi Builder604,
1 1/2" should work fine for your house with 5 bathrooms.
If you use HDPE rolled pipe, it probably not much difference for the cost difference between 1 1/2" and 2". If in future you decide to split your land and build a second (third or even more houses), it could be better to...
Hi RomeoMC,
Yes, you have to ask expansion joint supplier. I think, it will be almost the same or close to 4 elbows expansion loops.
Usually, in a long run, you do not save anything by installing expansion joints. It is because no matter what you do, they all leak and need replacements. On a...
Hi Cardin,
Please hire an experienced professional, who has successful track record of solving/building similar systems. You have to build it right the first time around. There are so many detailed knowledge you need to properly design, procure, fabricate, install, start-up, and operate the...

The pipe is PN16 as stated on the plans.
The pressure decay over time for the commissioning test was due to creep.
The recent test we did does follow a similar curve, 1 bar drop in 1 hour then 1 bar drop after another 7 hours.
No pressure relief.
I will find...
Hi Sam,
I agree with others to employ simple large header with smaller take offs. You have to start and think about process and controls first before having piping system model.
I would recommend to use PipeFlow calculation software, where you can model your piping system with all pipe...
Hi Ax1e,
I think, OP was about flanged nozzle of Pressure Vessel being thicker than wall thickness of line being thinner specified by Line Class. It is flanged connection, not welded. Depending on your reasoning, there are can be only three theoretical routes you can take:
1. Do nothing. In...
