Dear Naresh,
Bolt tightening torque = D*K*P
where D= dia of bolt = say 56mm with pitch 3mm, Core dia=52.15mm
P = Bolt tensile load = 0.75 * yield stress ( in N/mm2)* area ( which is 3.14*52.14sq/4)
consider yield stress as 900 N/mm2 ( for class 10.9)
Therefore P= 1442235 N
K = Plain...

Dear all,
Are there any good Bonding adhesives that will bond epdm or Nitrile rubber with s.g iron/stainless steel?.This bonding has to be almost as good as a vulcanised one since the rubber acts as a sealing for hydro-pressure upto 30 bars.
thanking in advance.

Hi,
We did a FM and UL(Underwriters Lab.)testing on Ductile iron valves meant for the fire fighting systems for U.S.A
The testing was more stringent than the normal testing standard meant for the valves.(As I found out in comparision with MSS-SP67)
I am told that the insurance companies in...
Thanks canuckminer,
I saw the valve in the web-site you mentioned.At least now I know that there are similar types existing in the industry.Like you mentioned No standard given but only the Material of Construction.
I guess these are manufacured purely from the manufacturer's standard and the...
Thanks generalblr,
But the Problem is we ourselves are manufacturers!!The point is I am on a project to develop a Grooved type knife gate valve and at present at a loss to start with what?Eventually I will arrive at a solution myself but it will take a longer time to start with this one without...
Dear all,
I put this question in the valve forum but unfortunatly no answer as of now.So I am trying my luck here.
Is there any design standard for Grooved Body type knife gate valve(face to face,O.D,I.D)?
There are Standards for Grooved type Butterfly valve like MSS-SP67 & ASMEB16.10.But...
Hi,
The Shell strength as per Pr-En-12516 is as follows:-
1)First determine the Body shell thickness as per:-
Ec=di x p / (2xf-p)xkc (x means multiply)
where,Ec=shell thickness in mm
di=Body Bore in mm
p =Pressure in Mpa =(0.1 x bars)
f=Allowable stress in Mpa...
Dear all,
It's been a long time since I came back to see what's going on here.I found out that I have really missed lot of good advices given by some experts.This forum is really going stronger day by day.
I am in search of a standard ( BS-EN,MSS,AWWA,ASME,JIS,ISO or any new valve standard)...
Dear Anegri,
Sorry for the belated reply.Actually I was busy on some site work and could not check mail.
Many thanks for your in-depth reply for the Equivalent valve standard.
Great Reply!!!
Thanks,It was usefull.We are procuring all the standards you have mentioned.
Bye!
Yes!!
I am referring to P.E.D for the hazard analysis.
Many thanks for the equivalent standard.One small doubt,if the standard is already designated as BS-EN then it must have crossed the Pr stage or else it would be Pr-En....
Thanks once again.I am Waiting for your next reply!!
Bye!!
Hi,
Yes,You can use Cast iron as the Body material for the Butterfly valve in Question.
Refer BS:5155 & BS:4504 SEC.1&2.
Just for advice,The above standards I have mentioned have been or are in the process of withdrawal stage.But there is no harm if you can still get a copy of that.
For...
Hi,
I would like to know from this forum the equivalent British En standard for ASME-B 16.34,specifically the temperature/ pressure rating for different classes of valve body materials.Also it will be very helpful if you can give me the ASME standard for the hazard analysis of valves...
