    asphalt pavement distress

Thanks guys for your replies. One more question for now. What is the thermal volume change coefficient of asphalt?

    asphalt pavement distress

Hello Ron, Thank you for your reply. What experience do you have with forensic evaluation of pavements? Here are some answers to your questions: 1. about 9 years, but time of crack appearance unknown - my guess is the cracks are more than 2 to 8 years old 2. visually about 3/4 inch max. and...

    asphalt pavement distress

I have been asked to determine what caused an asphalt parking lot to crack. The cracks are spaced more than about 30 feet apart and are random but most are tracking between islands and light standards. Some cracks are 0.1± feet wide. The pavement has no depressions and no elevation difference...

    Curved line length

How do I determine the length of a curved line? For instance, I need to determine the length along the curved line between two points on that line. I am using ACAD 2000 or 2004LT. I am also not well educated in using AutoCAD. Thanks for the help.

    Lake Marl Compression Index

MRM, See ASCE 1983, Geological Environment and Soil Properties, page 269, estuarine deposits. BigH, lake marl defined in Terzaghi and Peck, 2nd ed. and T&P and Mesri 3rd ed. (page 5), but I believe MRM is applying the lake marl description to organic clays and organic silts of post glacial age.

    Foundation performance

Focht3 thanks for your reply and interest. I don't have the details that the prospective contractor provided with me now at home, but I'll explain from memory. I can check details if you want later. The process uses anodes and cathodes with a low voltage, but high current to heat the soil due...

    Foundation performance

Thanks for your replies. Yes, jdmm, that is the process. Was the settlement your concern, and was the process done? If the electrical resistive heating process was done, can you share foundation and floor slab response information? The site I am analyzing as a geotechnical consultant is...

    Sensitivity of Compaction

BigRedGeo, Your comments should not be limited to only fat clay (CH). In my experience, I have not worked with soils (fine grained or coarse grained) where the moisture content at the time of compaction is not important, with the possible exception of open graded crushed aggregate such as #57 stone.

    Expansive soil volume change predictions

Has a study on the accuracy of expansive soil volume change predicted by any or all of the many analysis methods been published? Also, if any of you care to, please provide your comments on the accuracy of the analysis methods you are familiar with. Thank you.

    Sensitivity of Compaction

Third year anniversary of this thread! A clayey soil or a silty soil compacted to a density of 95% of the Standard (or Modified ) Proctor density at the optimum moisture content will perform differently than the same soil compacted to a density of 95% of the Standard (or Modified) density at...

    Software for pressuremeter data reduction

BigRedGeo and Focht3: BigRedGeo, Thanks for your replies. I've got PRESRED, and its a dinosaur like you said. Thanks for your offer to email it. By the way, how does one exchange email addresses on this forum? Focht3, I agree with your belief on other program non-existence, but still is hard...
