I've also noticed that my attributes aren't always there under file properties. They always seem to be there for assemblies, but not always for parts.
thoughts?
I'm slowly converting all our old files from Catia to SW12 (recently upgraded from SW11). The problem I have is I'll open a STEP file, run "Recognize Features", which usually works great, however it always selects ANSI Metric instead of inch for the hole wizard.
My "Part" template is all...
Sorry, thought I mentioned that. I'm converting to STP with Catia. I may have to see if there's a quick way to change the description while still in Catia.
I know this may be wishful thinking, but thought I'd ask.
We have recently switched from Catia V5R20 to SW11, and occasionally I have to move an assemlby over to work with. When I do SW will keep the Catia file name for the top level assembly, but all components (parts and sub-assemblies) file...
Thanks, but that didn't quite work. Catia complained that it lost reference when I radiused the corner. Unless I did something wrong.
What did work was to sketch a point using construction lines after the radius was created, and showing 3D points in the drawing.
I have essentially a keyway cut in a shaft. We then radius the corners where the slot meets the OD of the shaft. I need to be able to place a reference dimension for the slot depth from that sharp corner that no longer exists in an end view. The intersection point detection won't pick it up...
Is there a way to hide parts, and have the BOM ignore them? I have a part in an assembly that I need to leave in the assembly, but I don't want it shown in the drawing, or counted/displayed in the BOM. I have it hidden in the model, but when I hide or delete it from the BOM, the numbering...
Well, I've tried opening that file, and changing the view, but it always tells me I don't have a template open, and makes me open a template.
...wait a minute. I bet I'm saving the template then, and not the .drwdot Let me try that.
thanks!
I'm using SW 2011, and have setup a couple drawing formats with our company logo, and necessary info. Everything seems to be working fine except that I have my formats set to "third angle view", yet everytime I create a new drawing it's in "first angle vew" and I have to manually change it...
Thanks for the welcome...
I definitely will be working through some tutorials. As you say, every program does it a little different. I think though, that once I figure out the how and where of SW I'll be a lot happier than in Catia.
We have decided to make the switch from Catia V5R20 to SW. This morning I was given access to one of the licenses owned by our design group. It's 2011 Premium. I'm told we will be getting 2012 Pro. So far what little I've had time to work with it has been great. Loving the sketcher, and the...
