    adding rainfall file to SWIMM5

I am learning about SWIMM5, I am used to working with a rainfall distribution and IDF rainfall curves. It appears that SWIMM will accept unform inches/24hours of actual rainfall data. I need to add a Foridia modified SCS type II rainfall distribution to the program. Can this be done?

    street illumination

I am trying to find the formula to convert lumens at the street light to effective lumins at the street at varying distances from the light standard. Also, does anyone have any common sense standards for spacing of street lights within a subdivision?

    rainfall and stream flow monitoring

We are trying to set up a system of monitoring station in the County to monitor rainfall and stream levels and transmit the data back to a central computer by radio. Any suggestions?

    boundary stages in ICPR models

I am working on a ICPR model and the results indicate that the 5,10 and 25 year runoffs all produce peak elevation stage in the downstream boundary equal to the peak stage set in the downstream boundary. What is the significance of this?

determining need for left and right turn lanes

We are revising our land developemt ordinance and are interested in studying different methods for determining when a left turn or right turn lane into a residential development is warrented. Can anyone offer suggestions

    Floodplain questions

    1. A FIS is generally for a watershed or significant part of a watershead and you would not want to pay for such a revision. When the flood plain does not have a flood plain elevation specified, the general proctice is to determine the ground elevation at the edge of the flood plain and use it...

    How are Floodway limits defined.

The floodway is determined as part of the HEC 2 calculations mostly by intelligent trial & error. The flood plain is restricted in the computer program by degrees until the flood level is no more than one foot higher. The engineer has some leeway in positioining the flood way, but it location is...

ground water flow into detention pond

I am working on a project where the normal water level of a detetnion pond is lower than the existing water table by about three feet. I need to compute the amount of water that will flow into the pond from the ground water. Any ideas?

ground water flow into detention pond

I am working of a design where the detention pond normal water elevation is lower than the groundwater table and would like some advise on the best way to compute the amount of groundwater that will enter the pond. The water tabel is about 3 feet higher that the normal water level in the pond

    settlement in sandy soil

I'm involved in a project in Northeast Florida where it is proposed to design a detention pond with the normal water surface about 2 feet below the water table. It will have a weir at the design normal water level and it is intended to drain all of the water table above the design normal water...

    ICPR manual

My office is thinking about obtaining a copy of the ICPR storm water routing program. I am trying to locate a copy of the user manual,so as to review it and determine if this program is desirable. The company tells me that they cannot send or sell a copy of the manual, but that we must buy the...

    IDF constants

I have moved from Denver to Jacksonville, Florida. In Colorado, I used the FAA method of computing detention basin volumes. I would like to use the same method in Florida but cannot find the three" C" factors for Jacksonville. Can anyone point me to a surce.

    waster water treatment plant design

I need to upgrade the design of a treatment plant in Arizona, but the state does not have any specific design requirements. I need to locate specific design guidelines such as the " ten state standards" or regs in nearby states. Can anybody give a websight?

    FEMA Floodway Study, Shadow Effect

There is a "shadow" of a building because any building in the flood plain acts as a barrier, much as a berm would, it reduces the velocity and the ability of the channel to carry water. For the flow consideration, the building would act as a "shadow" in that the channel flow...

    Fire line design

The fire line size is dictated by the local fire demand which is usually determined by the fire dept. that will service the units. Most likely, the residential fire demand will be 500 gpm and the commercial demand will be 1500 gpm. There will also be a minimum line pressure required, usually 20...
