Good luck. I've tried running other big Windows apps. under WINE, with no success.
I'd like to see the Linux community take a whole-hearted effort in modifying the kernel to easily install and run Windows apps, w/o having to monkey with WINE.
We could not find a Dell or Gateway which met our specs. However, we contacted CDW who provided the workstations we needed with the RAM, Professional series SATA hard disks, etc.

JimmyJunior,
You are correct in expressing the importance of power system analysis as the basis for good system design.
I (old timer) was brought up in the same way you were, particularly short circuit analysis and symmetrical components, and I can certainly vouch that you are not being 'too'...
Make certain the hard disk drives are SCSI, which are much more reliable that IDE. The SCSI standard is very stringent, and the quality and reliability of the disk drives are greatly increased as a result.......based on experience.
SATA drives have faster thruput than IDE, but not as good as...
Several references off hand:
1. Westinghouse Transmission and Distribution Book
2. Aluminum Electrical Conductor Handbook
3. Cooper Power Systems' Distribution System Protection

listing of impedances.

The best source of information I've come across to calculate impedance for underground cables is the Cooper Power System's
Electrical Distribution System Protection book.
The book cost me $50, but you might be able to obtain a free copy from your local Cooper Power Systems sales rep.
