As noted in the previous posts the HGA or MG6 relays are time tested and long lasting in the circuit type you are talking about. Wire 2 sets of contacts in series if you are worried about breaking the DC tip current.
Most medium voltage breakers have upper limit readings published. Otherwise the 50% higher rule applies according to NETA. What breaker are you dealing with? Man., Voltage, Catalog #?
GE firmware upgrade took care of the Irig signal causing an event to be recorded every few seconds. Took several approaches to customer service to find the person with the right answer.
IRIG B signal is amplitude modulated. 8 MV Substations with various GE Multilins in service, all synced via IRIG B. Found that the Data Logger and Transient Recorder left at default settings. Will try to catch trip evets via those for now.
Facility that I am working at has SR850 Feeder relays in service. There is an IRIG B time signal from the DCS to coordinate all of the protective relays. On all other multilins 745,750,M60. etc. this is not a problem. However with the 850's every time signal causes a "Set Date/Time" Event Record...
I agree with everything all of you have said.I have notified the owners and they are considering actions. This is not an isolated phase bus, it is a nonsegregated bus duct with all three phases in one enclosure. Over the years waterproof coatings and additional heaters are probably all that have...
I would agree, but it's not my budget. This was a fairly common GE Gas Turbine Power Bank configuration from the 1960's. I was just curious if anyone had dealt with similar vintage equipment with the same faults over time or if this site is better or worse in comparison.
We are dealing with 40 year old insulated tubular aluminum outdoor 13kv bus duct. Over the years my customer has experienced several outages due to faults caused by deteriorating insulation. Repairs are made to clear the fault and the circuit is reenergized. Short of replacing all of the...
