I am recently choosing a valve for steam coinjection (SAGD), I am not sure which kind of FISHER valve is good for this application.
the steam line is 8", flow rate about 275000kg/h.

centrifugal pump need to keep a minimum recycle flow when the outlet is blocked or too low flow rate. it is to protect pump from vibration damage and motor damage. the restriction orifice is like a throttle valve, it produce a pressure drop. for large pumps we usually have a recyle control valve...
orifice is not an accurate flow meter, the edge of the orifice plate will not affect so much to the flow, the vicosity of the fluid is actually a very important factor. if this meter is not related to money, if it is just for a process control loop, you can use same equation as it should be...
