there are some raster to vector conversion programs... some freebies too. they will only do 2d and are a bit ....choppy google it and see what you can get ... see if it will get you closer to the end results you need

you should be able to access that directly with proe's vba

if you are wf4+....you should be able to get CurDir with a vba function http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/0hye9yys%28VS.71%29.aspx

select you face that you want to replace... you have the new face already as a surface... correct? be sure your picking it up as a face and not a feature then edit>offset>got to the bottom icon on the offset features; standard, draft, expand and replace.. you want replace you'll get a box...

think of it like you are cutting the thread in terms like a machinist does. On a lathe.. you are already in threading mode before you actually get to the threaded area of the part. You don't move to that area then engage... you thread some air first. You stop in a necked down area if you can't...
