Going to setup a new workstation from scratch with AutoCAD 2009 on an HP Compaq desk top (dream machine). Any recommendations on the HP Compaq desk top would be appreciated. I’m in NZ so what we get here at times are slightly different specs to else where, but any recommendations would be great.

Thanks both of you. Got me thinking. In original drawing file the floor plan is xrefed in. The problem was the xref. Recovered it and purge it and reopen my drawing and everything is fine. Thanks again

ACAD 2008 allows you to import DGN V8 files. Only just arrived a few days back so still looking at what's new. Looks good all the same.

Thanks Burgunit LISP routine worked well, it extracted the xref names as I wanted. Any ideas on how to pull the list into my drawing automaticly so it can be printed?

Is there away of extracting the xref file names loaded in a drawing. So that the file names can be printed on the drawing, say using a field. Is there a system variable that this info is stored in?

I have a title block inserted into a drawing containing a number of attributes which link back to the drawing properties dialogue box. Some of the attribute tag positions are locked and some are not. I wish to reposition one of the attributes within the block to another location on the drawing...

Thanks dik I have the autosaves and other temp files going to designated locations. It was just the drawing bak files I wanted to move to another location other than the same directory that the drawing file resided in. borgunit was right on the button

Is it possible to redirect AutoCAD’s bak files to another directory/drive other than the location of the drawing file it was produced from?
