    Shear Stiffness of a rod

No I was looking for the formula giving the stiffness associated with the lateral direction as opposed to the axial direction.

    Huth Eqn.

almost forgot to mention, the core and one of the sandwich plates are laminate, the remaining sandwich plate is metal.

    Huth Eqn.

Thanks rb1957 for replying, this is very helpful. I do have one question though, would you pretty much have to go with your second suggestion (i.e. making 2 single shear calcs and adding them), since the sandwich plates are different E's? Or could you average the E's? Thanks again,

    Huth Eqn.

Hi, Can the Huth bolt equation be used for double shear when all three plates are different (i.e. top and bottom plates aren't identical)? Thanks,

    Shear Stiffness of a rod

Hi everyone, I know this is a very basic question, but I'm having trouble finding it online. I know the axial stiffness of a circular solid member such as a rod is AE/L but what is the formula for the shear stiffness of a rod? Is it GA/L (where G is shear modulus)? Thanks alot!

Patran Workshop 4 from Seminar Workbook

Has anyone completed Workshop 4 (Midsurface extraction example) from the "Introduction to Patran 2005 r2, PAT 301" seminar workbook (volume 1)? I'm not able to get the same answer as they did. Thanks
