    America's High-Tech Quandary

Bit Twiddler, "Can anyone point out any areas where the US is investing more resources (money, research projects, bright people with technical degrees) in building things than China is?" The U.S. is building more casinos and maybe more shopping malls than China I would say. Probably more...

    THIN-WALLED PLASTIC MOLDING

You may get better results in a 500 ton machine or bigger. You stated that you are using 99% of the injection speed and pressure but it may not be fast enough to fill properly.

    Improve Adhesion to Aluminum Extrusion

Bonding natural rubber to 6061 aluminum extrusion. Using Chemlock adhesives. Is there a surface treatment for the aluminum to roughen the surface prior to applying the adhesive? It would seem that a coarser surface finish is better for rubber adhesion than the smooth surface on the extrusion.

engine hard mounting vs thermal expansion

I noticed that the spec is for a maximum resistance force side to side and front to back. Is that common to specify for mounting? What is the intent of a max resistance force?

engine hard mounting vs thermal expansion

You must also consider the reaction forces at the mounts due to motor torque and vibration.

    japanese steel tube specs

Extremely hard to find supplier in the US. I have to find DOM tubing as follows: 15.0 mm O.D., 2.25 mm wall, meets Japanese standard STAM290GA or STAM35G-M. U.S. suppliers I have contacted don't understand the spec numbers listed.

    ripple tank fabrication

You can also fabricate a tank with plexiglass sheets and use adhesive or solvent bond in the corners. Test the joints on a small piece to see if corners will hold.

    Large lid support prop strut

There are hydraulic dampers or gas springs. I don't know if hydraulic dampers "pop" like an air spring strut.A damper designer should be able to solve the problem. Risk Assessment will find a problem with hydraulic damper.
