Thanks DesignSmith!
One of the reasons I was still holding off on 2004 was our highly modified Hole Wizard .mdb's. I will set this up on our trial machine and when it works I will finally feel safe going to 2004. Thanks again!
Solidworks (2001) was the first 3d software I tried to use and the first CAD software I was not able to master without outside training. Was it the software or the required change in my thought process to accomplish my task? I believe it was the latter of the two. Maybe a bit of my age as...
I don't know if this will help, but we have done many things to try and reduce file size of component/assemblies to send over the internet. What we found was to use File:Save As: and use the "References" option (lower right). This enables you to save all of the associates parts along with the...
I don't know if Cosmos can do it, but most FEA codes have a reference temperature that can be assigned to elements. This feature can be used to create "shrink" fits or applied loads when the model temperature is different than the "stress free" reference temp. This is done...
IFRs:
When started with the Mechanical extention all operations are affected, but the "AM" commands are worse by far. If the "properties" Window is active it really slows everything down. You are correct that it is specific to the "mechanical" extention.
We...
IFR's;
Thanks for the reminder, I went and checked my version this morning and its current. We watch that very closely because Solidworks is our primary design tool, ACAD is used for legacy drawings only. Solidworks is very finicky about video drivers and cards.
Thanks anyway!!

Thanks for the suggestion, I forwarded to our IT guru. At least we're giving him a reason to keep trying.
Is there anywhere I can go to see what its present set-up is?
Thanks
Can't unistall the adapter, we use a net based license server so ACAD won't load without a connection. Out IT guy started ACAD without the Mechanical package and it runs fine??? Any more thoughts?
Thanks in advance
Its been 2 months but if I remember We had to log in as Administrator to install, won't swear by it. I'll check with my IT guys and see if they are game for another install.
Thanks again for your input, havn't got the okay yet to unistall the net adapter yet, still trying.
I will de-activate the adapter, We have re-installed both XP (1x)and ACAD(2x) on this system. The XP is a full install not the Gateway supplied, it was found to have problems. We purchased a full install just for this system. I have used task Mgr to monitor CPU and Net usage and didn't see...
I did a thread search and I hope I'm not re-hashing a subject, but we need help.
We recently updated from 2001 to AutoCAD Mechanical 2004. All is well except (1) out of (19) seats. The problem child is a Gateway P4 3 Ghz with 2 Gb of ram and a 3Dlabs Wildcat 880 Pro. This is our premier...
Thanks netshop, I checked all our 2003 training materials and I cannot find any reference to it. I guess I mis-understood the original thread question. I have done some api work scanning feature trees to get counts. Yes we have not switched to 2004, I am a lazy person and I watch this and...
My VAR seems to be crippled by the wonderful economy in our area and has lost its tech support. I have not rec'vd any answer on the hole quantity not appearing. I did a test and tried feature patterns, sketch driven, hole wizard, everything I could think of even reverted back to virgin...
Then we must have something turned off. We use hole wizard for all fasteners on a part level and we have never gotten quantities. I'll contact our VAR.
Thanks
