I vote enhanced system integrity. By seperating systems a localized failure doesn't affect both systems.

actually have a feeling that your shots fly best at a certain Mach #, like 1.00 for example.
Take your shot speed and divide by the speed of sound for the conditions to get the Mach #.
What happens is the following:
As you approach Mach 1, a shockwave forms in front of your bullet. This is...
First I have to say I followed this post yesterday and agreed with GregLocock, then you had to go and make the real world once again disagree with theory!!!
I have a few questions, can you give me the speed differences you are looking at, the altitude ranges, humidity ranges, and temperature...
This story is carried down through “tribal knowledge” and somewhere at one end of it sits Igor Sikorsky…
There are a few good reasons to do it.
In the early days of helicopters because of less than efficient rotor blade designs during a hover the right hand side of the aircraft was higher than...
I'll check out AC21-16D, thanks.
I understand that components are qualified as part of obtaining TC/STC, and that the TSO process involves qualification testing. A TSO'd product can be used in a TC/STC installation without the need for qualification (if it's being used for the purpose...
When certifing a new installation on an aircraft (Part 25 for example) we always "qualify" the components by doing environmental/vibration/fungus/EMI/RFI/famon/feast/fire/brimstone testing.
What drives this practice, I assume 25.1301 and 1309 are the drivers. Is there any guidance on this...
I'm an aerospace engineer with and MBA. I have designed a bunch or mechanical systems for business jets, certification, flight test analysis/plans, helicopters, liasion engineering, management. Now I need a job in the DC area, my wife has a great opportunity there.
Any help is appreciated!

I read you question and I have a few comments for you. Sorry its a month after the fact!
The biggest aerodynamic issue you need to contend with is mast bending as a result of increased drag at a moment arm which can cause an effect.
What??!?!?
The rotor mast will last the predicted lifetime...
Can anyone recommend aerospace engineering contract houses in the Washington DC area?
My wife found a great job in the DC area and I would like to live near her!
(I have to say, I’ve been doing the commuting thing since November and it’s kind of like being in college again, but alas, I need to...
