    maximum piston speed?

thanks for the email. i will take all the info into consideration.

    oil resistant coating?

im looking for a durable oil resistant coating. with good bond to steel and aluminum. temps to 500 deg F. chipping and flaking is not at all acceptable. i have looked at a lot of the coatings out there but everybody seems to say theirs is the best.

    wrist pin offset

thanks but i recall asking about pin offset and experience with the durability and the noise related to moving it. thanks for the not so necessary words about skirt design.

    wrist pin offset

thanks phil i will let you know how it goes with the .020 offset i guess. im not worried about the noise too much as long as its reliable for a reasonable time. and yes the tight cold clearance is for cold start conditions.

    wrist pin offset

what kind of piston-wall clearance were you running? i am thinking .002 should keep the noise down with the idea that there is no place to rock.

    wrist pin offset

anyone have experience with offset toward the direction of rotation. most OEMs are running about 1mm against the directioin of rotation because of noise from rocking pistons. i am starting off with .5mm in the other direction, then try 1mm. any info on piston life and rod ratio used with what...

    Increasing Gear Durability

seems to me gears are available in japan. REM will only help if you have them design a special process to polish in the root of the gear but it helps a lot. we have tried everything from cryo to having everone on the crew urinate on the gears(didnt help but thought it might have mojo).

friction reduction in ring and pinion

contact REM chemical in CT. they have a finishing process to drastically reduce friction. not oo expensive either. used by nascar and winston and stuff like that. you should see 1-2% increase in power and much lwer temps.

    maximum piston speed?

cool i was looking into copper-tin rings is that wiorth a try? well i am looking for the least friction possible. but lord knows im not on a cart budget. i have only about 38k plus cam development to spend. so i will be into it for about 50k. any advice on options for the budget? this info is...

    ATF in manual gearbox?

i didnt read all responses but i have used ATF in the past in nissan gear boxes and it doesnt last too long. i had a lot of trouble with roller bearings freezing up and syncros smoothing and not working well.

    Multi Piston disc brake Calipers

the sizing of the master cylinder and the piston is pretty simple. a massive master cylinder with massive pistons will stop a vehicle. but it will require much more pedal pressure. you want to design something comfortable for the driver and balanced at all four wheels and for the right weight of...

    maximum piston speed?

cnova why did you use the beryllium copper rings? was it because of the weight or the springiness of the material?

    maximum piston speed?

yes i did the math and the numbers you gave me pan out but i guess it still doesnt help too much because i know some guys are running actual max piston velocity of 45 m/s. that is 86mm stroke at 10000. and there was talk that someone was running 94mm stroke at 9800 which is about 48 m/s. but...

    maximum piston speed?

i see i will keep that in mind. that is actually much more helpful to know max. velocity anyway instead of mean speed.

    maximum piston speed?

cnova thanks for the good info. what kind of rings did you use at that speed. i was going to use something lightweight with gas porting. but there are a lot of options out there. any advice you have is apreciated. i have pretty much settled at a speed of 31 to 32m/s. my head wont flow much past...
