    pressure limits on synth oil

Does any one out there know what STP has in anyway?? Would be fun to know that. It's an opportunity for STP to tell us and then sell to all those with old cars!! Where can we get a cheap 4 ball test to compare oils?? I'm thinking that might be a good test for this problem??

    pressure limits on synth oil

I believe Mobil 1 is a SM oil which has the limited ZDDP. Could these be a cases where the lower ZDDP level causes the failure? I'd try an oil that isn't API SM rated! There are oils (usually higher viscosity's) without the SM rating! A lot of work to see if a SM rated oil is the problem...

    Small diesel engine?

I've seen what I think you want on ebay for approx. $200.00

Selecting Engine Oil Wt vs Outside Temps

Having worked in the OEM industry I saw a lot of engines torn down that ran tests on both 5W-30 and 10W-30. I noticed a slight bit more wear on the thinner oil. I'm talking immeasurable wear only visual marks. All the engines passed all testing. And your right the thinner oil is for improved...

    VW 1.8T engine sludge

Don't think I can give you the reason. I know that when we changed the system we reduced the gelation of the engine. Possibly we changed the presentation of oxygen to the oil resulting in less forming of jel by oxygenation? I believe that If the engine is operated in cold ambients and short...

    VW 1.8T engine sludge

thread89-141793 Some engines are prone to making sludge. It is in the design. It seems to be in the PCV system design. What appears to happens the oil oxidizes, turns to sludge and can't be pumped, therefore failing the engine. Best solution is to use synthetic oil and change often. The...

    Useful engine life

Can't recall the exact no. of miles that the EPA requires but I think it was 120,000 miles. This meant that the engine emmissions would be with in spec for that no. of miles. (Typically warranties for the automotive engines are less than this) Where I worked (OEM), we'd run Dyno. and in car...

    pressure limits on synth oil

I assure you I'm not a dealer but would like to use the best oil for my engines. Thanks for the feed back. Are there any other sources for whats the best oil? I have some experience with Mobil 1. We (OEM) dyno. tested it in our turbo engines in the past and it was far better than Std. oil. We...

    pressure limits on synth oil

I read that to use the API star ( found on the side of the oil container) the oil has to have less than 1000ppm of phosphorous. Phosphorous and Zinc are in the ZDDP, which boost the anti-wear properties of the oil. As I understand it they go together in order to get the anti-ware properties...
