KENAT,
Have you approached your company about hiring a recent grad?
The grad doesn't need to be a graduate engineer. They will work at the lower end of the pay scale, learn from you, provide backup to you etc.
Don't forget how you got your start in the working world. Perhaps it's time to give...
To do a thorough job and to your company standards it needs to be done in-house. Unless that's the problem and I'm not taking about costs$. I'm not trying to offend anyone but as the old saying goes "if you want it done right then you need to do it yourself". Maybe I stand alone on this.

drawoh,
"Is there any reason this attitude should not be applied to inspection?" How about when one method rejects the part and another method accepts the same part?

Thanks for your input.
It's been my experience that inspection methods of products are born out of relationships/conversations and agreements between the producer and the customer. But what if there is none or the customer is not able to provide direction?
Is this statement "GD&T should be...
Hi All,
Is there a standard for inspection of parts made to drawings produced using ASME Y14.5?
Example. I produce the drawing but is my inspector working to a standard for checking the parts?
Thanks,

Yes, as ajack1 as stated above this has been my experience too.
So what did I do when the math data and the GD&T did not match? I inform the customer and he signs off to it. We still use/need the tolerance from the GD&T but apply it to the size(s) of the CAD model.
In fact, to inspect the part...
To TheTick, I hate to burst your bubble but in my automotive experience "CAD is GOD" as the saying goes.
For example, we receive the CAD (math data) and the GD&T(paper drawing) but the two don't jive. Changes have been made to the math data but often the drawing(s) are far behind. So... in this...
Looks like typical drawing information for the automotive industry. You've gotta remember that it's only surface tolerance that they've given you. Any holes or fastener locations would have a different location tolerance.
Also, you haven't supplied us with the complete drawing so I can't commit...
Ha, ha... I can't see anyone getting a raise if they pass the CSWP exam. It just doesn't jive. Great for you if you do. Perhaps you could explain to us how you did it.

DMRM (Mechanical),
I couldn't open you attachedment. There was none but I'll reply.
This was they way we did it.
-produced mylar (10x full scale)with profile lines shown at nominal, max and min. (placed mylar on shadow graph)to compare actual part against
-get your customer to approve your...
My Opinion of the Online Test - If you knew only what was asked of you on the test then you really don't know much about SW. SW refer to the test as "CORE" but in reality it just scratches the surface. I do agree it has value. Great for you if you're are CSWP.

JMirisola - Try that without BOOTS like I had too!
eholmes - I agree with you. For me the test was all about speed modeling. Something that is less of a requirement than designing.
