Cold Form Section Arch Buckling or Unsupported Length?

I'm completing a review of a quonset made with cold-formed sections that gets crimped side by side as sketched below. The arch is about 15.2m across and 6.7m high and is pinned both ends. The cold-form section will have internal compressive axial forces and bending moments. I was wondering what...

    Hollowcore Anchor Capacity

    Thanks that makes sense.

    Hollowcore Anchor Capacity

Thanks. I wish they explained the failure mechanism a bit more in detail... but it gives me an idea of ultimate capacity at least.

    Hollowcore Anchor Capacity

Hello, I'm working on a post-installed roof anchor to be grouted in a hollowcore cell as shown below. The proposed detail would include a 15M bar reinforcement about 26" long into the grouted cell. Does anyone have experience with calculating the concrete breakout capacity for this...

    Tension Pile Detailing

Hello, I'm designing a reinforced concrete pile for pure tension that is anchoring a thick doubly-reinforced slab mat from uplift. I'm just wondering, is it better to hook the vertical bars from the pile inwards or outwards? It seems like hooking outwards would be better to spread the tension...

Hairpin Anchorage for Pre-Eng Metal Building

Hello, I have encountered this atypical hairpin detail for anchoring pre-engineered metal building frames... I just wanted to get your thoughts on this, if this would be effective at all? The hairpin will be cast in the slab, but it's wrapped around another U-bar that is anchored into the...

    Steel deck span condition loading

Hello, Does the triple span condition in any steel deck catalogue consider patterned loading for the 3 spans or is it typically just uniform distribution? Thank you.

    Westeel-Rosco Steel Roof Deck Catalogue

Hello, Would anyone have a catalogue of Westeel-Rosco Steel Roof deck from the 70's or 80's?' I tried contacting SDI but they don't have it. Thank you.

Reinforced Concrete Beam - Horizontal Joint Shear Reinforcement

Hello, I am designing a reinforced concrete beam composite with a slab poured separately as shown below. I understand this will require shear interface reinforcement for shear friction to resist horizontal slip. My questions are as follows: 1. Are the horizontal shear reinforcements (in the...

Precast Prestressed Pile Connection - Broomed Strand Capacity

Hello, I'm looking for reference on lateral shear capacity & uplift capacity of the "Broomed" strand connection to cast-in-place cap shown below without embedment for precast prestressed piles. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Fully threaded anchor rods?

Yes it is under a grouted baseplate. My concern is that if the bonded concrete breaks near the top, then the connection is compromised for shear transfer even if no one sees it. Thank you for your input. SwinnyGG, for anchor design, we typically use the nut at the bottom of the anchor to...

    Fully threaded anchor rods?

Hello, A contractor wanted to use fully threaded anchor rods instead of threaded ends only as shown below. I have no concerns regarding the strength & net area of the threaded rod, but I'm not sure about the concrete bonding to the threaded portion. Is it possible that the bonded concrete in...

    Hollowcore Diaphragm Deflection

Thanks. I will look into those works. There is no topping layer. The chords are precast girders on two sides of the building and 30M bars cast inside the hollowcore along the other two sides. I'm not sure where to get the shear stiffness of grouted key joints...maybe they are in those references...

    Hollowcore Diaphragm Deflection

Hello. I'm looking for a design guide on how to calculate hollowcore diaphragm defleciton assuming it is flexible and simply supported. I can't seem to find any guide in the PCI manual about this topic. Thank you.
