Does anyone know of any interaction formulas or methods for calculating bored pier diameters and depths subject to axial tension and shear loads?
A typical example is a pier to support one of the columns in a trussed tower. The column baseplate/pier is subject to both tension and shear loads...
All walls are open, so may have to adopt a fixed base scenario. At this stage the prelim layout suggested 15 segments, although im sure 16 would be fine. The only thing that matters is an efficient (light as possible) design.
Does anyone know of any resources/design examples on the design of a large steel framed stockpile cover?
This is a sheeted roof only structure.
Please see the attached for a sketch arrangement.
Does anyone know of guidelines in regards to the depth and timing of saw cuts in SFRC slabs on ground?
I attended a seminar a few years ago where 1/2 depth was recommended, however this is being questioned by certain concrete contractors.
The columns are 7m long. Above this there is only bin walls. At 7m there is a grillage of nominal steel beams, typically 310-360UB. Once this framing is erected, the bin hoppers (steel) are then dropped onto and bolted to the internal side of the beam top flanges via a top perimeter angle. The...
The structure i am considering consists of 13.5m high steel plate bin walls interlocked together on a 3.6m x 3.6m grid (4x4 bin arrangement, total plan size 14.4 x 14.4m).
The support framing consists of nominal steel beams in a grillage at a height of 7m. (top of bins 20.5m high)
The columns...
Does anyone know of any design guidelines/recommended procedures for determining the shear and tension capacities for cast in plates to concrete wall panels?
Does anyone know of any design guides/formulas for the bending moment distribution for a concrete wall panel used as cladding on a single storey portal frame building subjected to lateral wind loads?
The base of the panel is considered to be fully supported (tied into floor slab), and the top 2...
