Thanks yates! Sorry, I forgot to mention the standard. A4-80 is made of AISI 316.
Could you please tell me more about Inconel 718 bolts? Do you know exact fatigue values of 718? A4-80 (316) has good enough corrosion resistance in our case and I think Inconel 718 is at least as good as A4-80? Is...
TVP: The bolt supplier is reluctant to rummage the fatigue value. I have asked the fatigue value directly from the bolt manufacturer -> no answer (?!)
CoryPad: Thaks! I’ll try to find those sources.
Nowadays almost everything is standardized. I really wonder if the fatigue limit of the...
Hi all,
Does anybody know the fatigue limit of the A4-80 bolt? A4-80 is made of acid-proof steel. I have found the fatigue limit value for the 8.8 steel bolt, but not for the A4-80 acid-proof bolt.
I downloaded the newest version of NeiNastran. Now the version is 9.0.2.275. SSHL is visible! Thanks for the hint! I downloaded about two weeks ago too and then the version was 9.0.5.475 and SSHL was not visible.
Now I can look the contact pressure at Femap.
I detect one oddity in Example...
NoranTech,
I ran the Example Problem 6 with NeiNastran V8.4 and V9.0 and I brought the results into Femap V9.2.
When I ran the problem 6 with V8.4, SSHL results were visible.
When I ran the problem 6 with V9.0, SSHL results were not visible?!
The Analysis Options were same for both version...
I tried to increase SFACT value. It helps in some cases, some cases not.
I made a test model from the cantilever beam. I cut the beam and connect the cut ends (surfaces) together by the weld element (penetration type = 3). There was a load at the end of the beam. The load caused the shearing...
We had earlier Femap V9.0. There was SSHL NORMAL STRESS. Now we have V9.2 -> there is no SSHL NORMAL STRESS. That option is removed, why?
I have to complain to the Noran.
The analysis is completed successfully without any significant warning. The problem is that Femap does not show the contact pressure. If I run the model by Abaqus or NX/Nastran I can select Contact Pressure from the Contour menu (F5 -> Deformed and Contour Data -> Contour -> Contact Pressure)...
Hi all,
I have used a weld element to join dissimilar meshes together. The weld element works well for linear static analysis but badly for nonlinear static analysis. The surfaces of the weld element slide when analysis type is nonlinear static.
How is it possible?
-> NeNastran + Femap V9.1 and V9.2 are useless as regards to contact. It is very bad thing because the contact stress and contact distributions are significant part of our calculation.
We use NeNastran V9.0 and Femap V9.1. Does not Femap really show the contact pressure distribution/values? Almost all of our calculation includes the contact surfaces.
Dear Jonas,
Thanks, it helped!
We turned HEXINODE and QUADINODE to ON. Now the results are exactly same (V8.4 vs. V9.0). I made tests for several models. I thought earlier that HEXINODE and QUADINODE are always ON when AUTO is used. I didn’t know about the limits of 100 000 dof’s.
One model...
Have you tried comparing runs with HEXINODE and QUADINODE set to ON for both V8.4 and V9?
-> I have not tried that yet.
I noticed the difference between V8.4 and V9.0 when the version changed during the project. The model was large. Then I made a small test model (the plate and hole in the...
HEXINODE was AUTO in all runs. The AUTO setting will use the ON setting for linear static.
In the lastest test the element type was CHEXA. I have made the tests also with CQUAD4 elements and the problem was the same. The difference of maximum stress between V8.4 and V9.0 depend on the size of...
The newest test: A model has 110 000 Nodes and the type of elements is CHEXA.
The maximum stress when V8.4 is used: 732MPa
The maximum stress when V9.0 is used: 777MPa
Both of runs HEXENODE was OFF.
Then I turned HEXENODE -> ON and the maximum stress by using V9.0 was 754MPa.
We are going to...
