Hi all,
I am really struggling with something for a couple of days now. I have a model and I am trying to restart it using the import analysis. I have to do this since I wish to change BCs and hence cannot use a restart analysis. Some of the model has 3D brick elements, some continuum shell...
Hi all,
I am running a complex dynamic analysis simulating an impact event. I have done this using successive restarts of the same model to overcome the high computational time. Now, I want to load the structure, ie model post impact loading. when i try to do so I get an error saying that...
It wont allow me to save the XY data after I go to "XY data from odb output".
I get a message saying that either my output was not requested in the output requests or that it is unavailable for this kind of element.
The output in question is just a reaction force for SC4 elements, and it...
Hi,
I am trying to analyze a model of a stiffened cylinder. I have run the full model, and are now trying to set up a cyclic symmetry model of 1/8 of the whole cylinder to save computational time as I will eventually do an optimization on it. Ive set up the cyclic symmetry with the...
Hi,
Is it possible in a model containing solid elements to specify material properties to individual elements (ie poissons ratio and Young's modulus)? I have read about the *distribution and *element properties keywords but these seem to only be applicable with shell elements.
Thanks,
Andrea
thanks for your reply. I am not sure what the problem was. I just restarted my model from scratch and it seems to be working now. thanks a lot anyways!

Hello everyone,
I am working on an FE model whcih has a global model which then drives a local model. I am coming up with an error which ive never seen before, as when I run the local model job it says that
"the node numbering might not be correct for element # instance 'name'"
where # is an...
Hey guys,
I have a question regarding submodeling. I have a complete shell model of a stiffened panel, and have conducted postbuckling analyses of it succesfully. Im now trying to make a local model of a region of this panel. I followed the guidlines in the manual, and as a starting point my...
Thanks for that but it only works partially. Its strange cos using the *INCLUDE, FILE= line works when I put the composite stacking sequence definition in an external file and then read it in after the shell section definition. However for the DSLOAD option it doesnt work (just says that I...
Hi Drej, thanks for your answer.
Are you sure about the *INPUT line?? It is not an ABAQUS keyword. I have had no success in solving my problem. I have tried reading form an external file in the *NODE line,
by having *NODE, INPUT=nodes and having my node definition in the file named "nodes"...
Hi everyone.
I am trying to read data from an external file into my ABAQUS input file. i have read up on the *INCLUDE, INPUT= option and understand its function. However, my problem is this: I have a DSLOAD, and the input file is as follows:
*DSLOAD
__PICKEDSURF33, EDNOR, 0.175
Now, instead...
Hi, I have the following problem. I have a certain layup, composed of, for example, 10 plies stacked at different angles (ie a laminate). I have all properties including ply thicknesses. If I have for instance a block of this layup, is there any simple program available that will allow me to...
oh and Id like to add that since my model contains 3d solid sections with the composite option, I am not able to obtain the results from the odb and then transform them here on a coordinate system based on the deformed shape.

Hi, I would like to know if it is possible to create a coordinate system that "moves" with a model as it deforms. It is to my understanding that this is not possible, having done a search on this forum on related topics and reading the user guides. If i have, for example, a plate that is in...
