element is a 250x250x30mm piece of glass with a 16 mm bolt in the centre
I’ve fixed the bolt hole and applied the load to one face of the glass
Thanks
I am just trying to see if the connection is safe
Hi thanks for the reply
What it shear damage initiation criterion?
Also what criteria would you recommend?
Also I only have student edition 1000 nodes
Many thanks
Hi This is my stress output
the element is a 250x250x30mm piece of glass with a 16 mm bolt in the centre. The glass is loaded with 1kN of force
Does this look about right?https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=26cfd41b-ea66-41ef-8490-3d9c67ef6db4&file=Bolt_1_V_mises.pdf
Hi
When using abaqus to check if an element is failing in shear what's the check that you need to carry out as I am assuming that the program will not tell you it is failing?
I am trying to find the maximum load on a single bolt single shear assembly in a brittle material.
Many thanks

Hi Thanks for the reply
2 more questions please
1- when I plot the graph of reactions I am getting a separate line for each node rather than a total
2 - how do you read a abaqus.rpt file?
Thanks
I am analysing a flat plate with UDL (inputted as a pressure)
3.1 x 1.2 m
UDL = 700N/m2
total load = 2600N
I have 62 nodes around the perimeter
my RF is coming out really small - nodal RF = circa 0.2
I am assuming this should be N
0.2x(3.1x2+1.2x2)= 1.72N
where as it should be -...
Hi
Can somebody let me know what is the best way to export the results into a presentable report? I am analysing reaction forces from a glass plate
Thanks
Andy
Hi
Thanks for the answers
Its a glass beam with a line load added as a pressure (1.25 kN/m) = (1.25*1000/0.3 = 40667)
3100mm long 300 mm deep 30mm wide
fixed (x,y,z)at the two ends only
Thanks
Andy
Hi
Does anyone know why this is happening (On the attachment) and is not a nice smooth curve?
Thanks in advance
