Anyone else using FaroÆs new Laser Scanner?

Thanks for the info. We were told an incorrect calibration method with the plate method. Faro apologized for the confusion and since then we have had minimal problems with our scanner arm. Scott

Anyone else using FaroÆs new Laser Scanner?

I'll get more information from my engineer most familiar with it. I think it needs a calibration every time we use it. If it won't calibrate using the method Faro suggests, we default to the previous calibration.

Anyone else using FaroÆs new Laser Scanner?

Hmm no EDIT button here. I meant to say there'll be hell to pay with the NEXT issue, if any. It turns out, we were very, very carefully following the written instructions for plate calibration which turned out to be both ambiguous and incorrect.

Anyone else using FaroÆs new Laser Scanner?

Just as a quick follow up: the scanner heads have very sensitive calibration and most calibrations will only last @ 30 days. It's like perishible goods! Turns out Faro provided inadequate instructions for the new calibration technique using a plate method. We were sent the plate and e-mailed...

SolidWorks crashing due to large Page File 2000/XP

This sounds very similar to a problem two of my engineers just experienced with new machines and a new install of Solidworks Professional; We have two machines operating under XP SP2 using P4 processors. One is using an installation of Solidworks Office without a hitch. The seat of Solidworks we...

Anyone else using FaroÆs new Laser Scanner?

After years of reliable operation from Faro’s CMM Arm with a probe, my company chose to purchase their newer laser scanner CMM with the 6th axis. We have had nothing but trouble with calibrating the laser scanner end of this device and were wondering if anyone else reading this forum might have...

    Animate build steps in Solidworks?

Yes I downloaded the program and am testing it now. Works cool so far. It may do what a want but I'm not sure yet. If I work with the pause button it can hopefully cut out the build-time scale bar delays while SW builds different steps. Still messing with it.

    Animate build steps in Solidworks?

Wow thanks for the fast response! It looks like Macromedia has purchased the rights to this software and is now marketing it under the name "RoboDemo" for $500. [surprise] [thumbsdown] Most of the shareware links I found have been disabled but there are still a few places left where you could...

    Animate build steps in Solidworks?

Here's a good one- I would like to create an animation of all of the sketch work and build steps involved in the creation of one of my Solidworks models for part of a presentation. Does anyone know of a way to do this? The HARD way would be to produce multiple still images of each step and...

Flattening wireframe curves to true arc length

I am an auotmotive product designer who has recently acquired a Faro arm for obtaining digital measurements. I am currently scanning the outlines of vehicle side windows to produce wind deflectors. The problem is my tool makers still need paper or mylar shapes to hand make the tools. When I try...
