Hi all,
Can you explain why for aboveground flammable horizontal storage tank Emergency vent sizing considère an allowable over pressure of 35 Kpa (5 psig)in ULC S601, while in NFPA 30 Emergency vent sizing consider only 17 kpa(2.5 psig)?
Also normal maximum operating pressure in ULC S601 state...
Hi All,
I'm designing a small tank with Flat Bottom ( less than 10 ft Diameter) at more 10 psig Presuure design,
So I know API650 is applicable only for max 2.5 psig, and API 620 is for large tank (typicaly more than 300 ft),
the question is can I use API 620 for this small tank?
Thanks.

Hi,
À response to Don56, no proof test is expected, i calculate the MAWP,
I Know that habitually the blind or cover flange is made from plate, but is it still true with this special shape,
And by the way the raison for this shape is requirement of sanitary application .
Thanks.
Regards

Dear All,
I'm designing a special Manway for coded Vessel ( ASME Section VIII Div.1), my question is very simple : Can I use plate (SA-240-304 for example), for this attached manhole cover, which is fabricated from one machined piece, or it's mandatory to use only forged material?
Thanks...
Thanks SnTMan,
indeed when I took a deep look to UHA-44(a)(1)(b) & Table UHA-44, and regarding grade material & my temperature design, it doesn't take a heat treatment.
Regards.
Hi Marty007,
I checked in the beginning your suggestion, by welding two formed pieces ,but the calculated forming strain is = 13.644%,which excced 10%, and per UHA44, its require a heat treatment.
Thanks .
Dear All,
I'm designing a Stainless steel Small high pressure vessel (650 psig Pressure design at 250 oF), with conical shell :Top Dia.8in Id, Btm Dia.2in Id, H=20in , thk= 5/16 in, So We are not able to form this conical shell, my question:
what is the ASME Section VIII Div.1, requirement , if...
JStephen,
that is exactly what I'm worry about it, we need more help to make this point more clear,
because if I can use plate for this flange, that's means that all Slip on flange ( just without hub)can be made from plate material.
that what we need to confirm.
Thanks.
Laurent.
Sorry,
please find the attached second sketch for the flange.
Thanks.

Dear All,
I'm designing a 20in Dia. flanged manhole as per Appendix 2 ( ring type loose Flange + flanged Dished cover) see attached (2) sketches , and I have some confusion about material flange specification , so my question is very simple:
as theses flanged are not hubbed flanges, nor reverse...
Afox88, this flange is simply studding outlet, butwelded on 2,5 mm side.
SnTMan,thank you very much, for me I have usually in mind that only blind flange can be cut from plate , all the others flange are from forging material.
THanks.
Laurent
Sn TMan,
so as per your statement, all not hubbed studded flange may be cut from plate,
That is my confusion, witch type is my flange ( see again attached file) , for me when we have a square angle or slope on machining the flange , that became hubbed flange, am'I WRONG?
Thanks.
Laurent...
SnTMan ,
I think it's may be impossible to form this flange from ring plate , I know that I can't cut it from plate.
for dual certified bar/forging, I see this restriction note on the bar Material test report : Only mechanical and chemical for SA-182
is it really dual certification with this...
