Hello all,
I'm a newbie in the Geotechnical world but what exactly is lightly and heavily overconsolidated soil, I don't understand the differences between them.. I understand that an overconsolidated soil is a soil which is experiencing a current state of stress less the maximum stress it has...
I solved this for anyone interested looking for an answer in the future: Create a Partition Face Sketch, this tool is found in the Mesh Module. Select the required area and sketch lines whatever is required. It will become a node afterwards.
Abaqus is unitless which means you could apply a gravitational force of -9.81 however then make sure that all other dimensions are in metres. If you apply a load of -9810 then you're dealing with mm throughout the modelling and analysis stages.
Thanks Erdbau for providing an alternative terminology however inputting this into the search engines sadly reveals no information as well.
Anything in particular you could link me to?
I am not sure if there's another name referred to thrust blocks and if that might be the reason I cannot find more resources.
But this pdf file contains a diagram of the purpose of thrust blocks in the first page -...
Hello all,
I am searching for information on thrust blocks which are used to support retaining walls, however I can't find anything online only
thrust blocks for pipelines. Does anyone know where I could find information on this particular subject?
Kind Regards,
1Mp.
Thanks for the suggestion yaston4, I have created a point in the middle of the thrustblock, however it still doesn't seem to work, there is no node.
Any other suggestion?
Hello all,
I'm struggling to place a load the way I need it. I have attached my current model, I am analysing a thrustblock supporting a retaining wall.
I want to place a dynamic load that gradually increases in the middle of the thrustblock 2x2m, however there is no node I could click on.
I...
@IceBreakerSours it's quite simple modelling, however I have troubles with setting it up. Essentially it's going to be a block with a force applied on it on top and I would like to find out its displacement when the force is varied. I would really appreciate your help on this!
@IceBreakerSours, thanks for the reply. Sure, I require help in Soil Analysis and Finite Element Analysis using the software Abaqus. This project is quite urgent and I would be so grateful to you if you could help me out. My email is; imperios@hotmail.co.uk and I would like to discuss this with...
@IceBreakerSours, are you experienced in Abaqus? I would like to discuss a project with you in private and would potentially pay you for the services. Let me know, Regards.
Do you think the dubai rotating tower is achievable from an engineering point of view, is the technology available for it to be construct it todays age? What do you think is the best foundation for such a dynamic structure?
A video...
I have attached the drawing of a grading curve of a soil which is fully dry, however if we take that same sample and put it in a cylinder full of water then how would the grading curve look like? Would the particles break apart and thus the curve shift to the left? Water = 25% Soil = 75%. I'm...
What is the accuracy and reliability when determining the liquid limit and plastic limit using fall cone method, I know that it's used as an alternative to the casagrande cup method because it doesn't depend on human judgement, however is there any other reliabilities when using the test? In...
