Guys, what I don't see from any of your responses is what does the PMP really add after an MBA?
Yes it might open more doors and looks good on your resume .... etc, but does it really add anything to your knowledge or skills?
Mike,
Using RP to make the billets, then machining them is indeed odd and a lot of hassle.
I'm referring to machining billets which are made from the actual thermoset material of the final parts.
You can get thermosets in sheet or thin plate form to machine a prototype, but you cannot get it...
Sarah800, there are several things that might be causing this:
1. Depending on what release of ProE/Mechanica you are using, you might have a mismatch of units between ProE and Mechanica. (http://coach2.mbar.dtu.dk/CADTRN-130692/CADTRN/wildfire2/en//estructure/e1overview/e1s1app.html).
2. I'm...
Pud,
Our suppliers ruled out RIM as more suitable for large size parts. Ours are about 50 x 100 x 130mm each.
The "high dielectric" and "high strength" specs are supposed to be equivalent to those of DAP or the attached high temp Epoxy.
Mike,
You are 100% right about RP and the recent hype...
We are asked to produce six functional prototype units of a new product.
The material used must have:
- V0 flammability rating.
- HDT close to 200C.
- High dielectric and mechanical strength.
(equivalent properties of DAP or attached high temp Epoxy).
All rapid prototype suppliers that we...
Thank you all for your input.
Some suppliers claim that a duplex treatment (powder coating on hot dip galvanized Steel) produces a longer part life (provided the two processes are tightly controlled).
Eventually it will come down to cost. I'll price both 316 SS and powder coated Steel and...
Hi all,
We are designing and building a new low voltage fuse panel for a UK utility company.
Their spec says that the panel enclosure should survive for 40 years in a coastal environment.
I'm looking for ideas on what finishing/treatment/coating to use to give the enclosure a fighting chance in...
Jenhe,
I haven't used Mechanica for a few years now, but the principles of FEA remain the same.
There is no one right mesh/element size that results in correct results.
Often the finer the mesh the better the results.
However, you do not want to over do it, because a very fine mesh requires...
Hello there,
I have a drawing of a frame parts assembly with a parts list that shows the quantity of each part used.
I'd like to change the quantity to show the overall length instead of a count of the parts.
When I change the table to show "cut length" and "total length" no values are shown in...
Dear all, we have an Aluminium extrusion that will be used as an outlet grille on an electric heater. The part will see temperatures up to 200C (390F) for several hours daily.
We'd like to carry out an accelerated life test to verify the durability of paint/coating that is used by the supplier...
Thanks everybody for the advice.
It seems that our current room does not meet BS 60531, which is specifically created for testing storage heaters. A new room will be built with dimensions and insulation as per the spec.
